While much has changed throughout history regarding women in the workforce, there is still work to be done.
The AFULE Traincrew Ladies Collective was founded in 2022 by two rank and file women; Claudia Payne and Amy Tebbutt. What began as a space created by women, for women, has continued to grow and evolve into a statewide movement known as the AFULE Traincrew Ladies Collective.
The AFULE Traincrew Ladies Collective is a platform for women to discuss current workplace issues that need addressing, provide a strong support network for AFULE women, and share information through all forms of media on issues affecting women in the workplace and the broader empowerment of women union wide.
Traincrew Ladies Collective meetings are held bimonthly via Microsoft Teams, with an invitation extended to all AFULE traincrew ladies to attend. Meeting details and the Teams link are shared through the AFULE Traincrew Ladies Collective Facebook page approximately one week in advance, providing all members with the opportunity to participate, raise concerns and contribute to discussions.
The Traincrew Ladies Collective also aims to recognise and learn from the women who have come before us, explore the issues women have tackled throughout history and continue to face today, share information about legislative reform, and work collaboratively with other women's movements to help create positive change for current and future generations.
Men within AFULE are our comrades and allies. Their support is valued, and they are welcome to stand alongside us and support this initiative.
The Traincrew Ladies Collective is about creating a space where women can connect, share experiences, educate one another, raise issues, and work together to ensure the voices of AFULE women continue to be heard.
