No. 6 Division

No. 6 Division area is Fisherman Islands, Acacia Ridge and Ipswich (Freight).

No. 6 Divisional Councillor Wayne Robeck

Wayne Robeck was elected as Councillor for Division 6 in 2004.  Prior to his election, Wayne had extensive experience as a Branch representative – holding a range of positionsincluding Branch Committee Member, Branch Chair and Branch Secretary over a period of 20 years.

Wayne is passionate about improvements to the drivers’ office – the locomotive cab - and the drivers’ often home – the Traincrew quarters.  Wayne is constantly looking for ways to improve the facilities provided to Traincrew to lessen the burden of long shifts and time away from family.

Wayne spent 20 years living in rural and regional locations and has a unique understanding of the challenges faced by Traincrew and with families living in remote areas.  Wayne has remained a strong advocate for a western incentive package for crews stationed in remote locations.

Wayne commenced in Townsville as an Engine Cleaner in 1985.   Wayne took a transfer to Cairns in late 1985, before taking a 12 months swap to Cloncurry in 1987.  It was during this period that Wayne first became involved with the Union.  Wayne took classification as a Fireman in Cloncurry in 1989, and was classed as a Locomotive Driver Class II in 1995.  Wayne is currently a Locomotive Driver Class II based at Fisherman Island’s Traincrewing depot.
