TRANSFER GUIDELINES – QRNATIONAL COAL RECRUITMENT

13 February 2010

Dear Traincrew,

In negotiating the QR Limited Traincrew Union Collective Workplace Agreement 2009 and the QR Passenger Pty Ltd Traincrew Union Collective Workplace Agreement 2009, the parties negotiated and agreed on the Traincrew Transfer Guidelines 2009 (the “Transfer Guidelines”).

The Transfer Guidelines specify a ratio for the recruitment process – that is, 20% internal transfers and 80% direct recruitment.  The Transfer Guidelines, along with both Agreements, were voted by traincrew and lodged with the Workplace Authority.

The AFULE State Office made enquiries with QRNational Coal with respect to the application of the Transfer Guidelines in light of the recent QRNational Coal recruitment drive.

QRNational Coal has advised that their aim is to increase the number of traincrew across QRNational Coal by 120 positions by December 2010. During the initial recruitment drive late last year, QRNational Coal offered 26 places to internal transfers. This is the above 20% mandatory internal transfers ratio.

QRNational Coal has advised that the remaining vacancies will be filled by external applicants.

QRNational Coal has advised the AFULE that if the predicted vacancies exceed 120 positions, they will then call again for internal transfers in accordance with the Transfer Guidelines.

If you have any queries in relation to this matter, please don’t hesitate to contact the State Office on (07) 3257 1151 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Yours fraternally
