Over the past few years, a substantial number of women have entered the Traincrew grade. This increase in women in our ranks is a positive for the rail industry and for the Union.
There will be particular challenges that face women entering our grade. A key challenge already becoming clear is the provision of appropriate amenities for female Traincrew across Queensland.
The A.F.U.L.E wants to make sure that our Union appropriately reflects our diversity and is in the best possible position to meet your needs. The A.F.U.L.E. Divisional Council meeting unanimously resolved to create a Women's Forum and a Women's Committee.
The Women’s Forum has a dedicated section of our website where forum members are able to meet each other and discuss a range of issues affecting them.
If you would like to join the Women's Forum, please fill in the registraion form, you will be added to the forum once your application has been approved.
The Women's Committee will be tasked with dealing with issues that have particular relevance to women members of the Union. The role of the Committee is not to replace the Branch Committees for day-to-day Union matters – rather, it is to deal with matters that have a particular effect on women in the workplace. In addition, one member of the Women's Committee will attend meetings of the Divisional Council of the Union.
